The North American branch of the Bishop Herman Old Boys Union (BHOBU) on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 cut the sod for the construction of an ultra modern school gate for their alma mater at the entrance of the college.
In a speech during a short ceremony, the project manager, Dr. Eusebius Gbordzoe who is also an old boy stated that the current gate does not befit the status of the college hence the North American branch of BHOBU mobilized themselves and contributed funds for the intended construction.
Dr. Gbordzoe also mentioned that there are a lot of challenges the school is currently facing as over the years, funds sent by BHOBU for the resolution of such problems were not used for the intended purpose. This, according to him is the reason they have taken it upon themselves to come down from the United States of America to undertake the project by themselves.
He said this project, when completed, would be a testimony project that will encourage members of the union to willingly donate funds for other projects to be undertaken in the college. He maintained that the college had made them who they are today and, therefore, it is their responsibility as old boys of the college to give back what they have gotten from the college.

He reminded his fellow old boys that there are no NGOs that will come to the aid of the college but rather, BHOBU is and will always be that NGO or philanthropist that will come to the aid of the college. Dr. Eusebius Gbordzoe appeals to the teachers of the college to help mold the students into useful individuals for the college and for the nation.
Dr. Gbordzoe also urged the students to be studious as the school environment offers them the best opportunity to excel academically.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kpando, Killian Donkor, said that Bishop Herman College is moving on the agenda of reset and that the construction of the new gate is the beginning of reset for Bishop Herman College. He said, “Since the old students decided to reset Bishop Herman College, the government will also not hesitate what is due the college as the government is also on the agenda of reset”.
