Lions Clubs International District 418 Holds 6th Annual Convention in Ho

Lions Clubs International – District 418 successfully hosted its 6th Annual District Convention in Ho under the theme “Quality Service: Inspiring and Empowering Community Development.”

District Governor Lion Dr. Helena Asamoah-Hassan, PMJF, GLCF, presented a comprehensive report highlighting achievements across the 2024–2025 Lions service year. These included initiatives in the eight global causes—Childhood Cancer, Vision, Diabetes, Hunger and Environment—as well as efforts in Youth development, Disaster relief, and Humanitarian community infrastructure.

Key Service Highlights:

Childhood Cancer: Awareness walk/run held in partnership with Lifeline Ghana and the Millennium Marathon.

Vision: 100 cataract surgeries funded for underserved individuals.

Diabetes: Major screening event at the National Mosque with ongoing online awareness campaigns.

Youth & Literacy: 6,000+ books donated to basic schools in underserved regions.

Hunger Relief: Meals and supplies distributed to the vulnerable in Accra and Dodowa through partnerships.

Disaster Relief: Senchi Ferry Health Centre refurbished and commissioned via LCIF grant.

Environment: Waste bins donated to Achimota Hospital; tree-planting initiative targeting 10,000 trees underway.

Water Access: Borehole under construction in Adetowa No.1 to serve 1,000+ residents affected by illegal mining.

Legacy Project: Nearing completion of an 8-bed Diabetic Clinic and Outpatient Ward in Ashanti Region.

Membership & Recognition:

District 418 grew from 47 clubs and 1,291 members to 1,411 members across 54 clubs, showing strong engagement and expansion. Several individuals and clubs were recognized for excellence in service.

District Governor Dr. Helena Asamoah-Hassan called on Lions to lead with unity and purpose:

“We have proven that quality service is the foundation of community empowerment. Let us keep pushing boundaries and transforming lives—because when Lions serve, communities thrive.”

The District’s major Legacy Project—an Emergency Diabetic Ward at Suntreso District Hospital—is nearing completion. Membership also grew from 1,291 to 1,411, with seven new clubs added.

The convention celebrated a year of impact, community engagement, and renewed commitment to service.
