The government has announced the release of funds for feeding to Special Needs Schools nationwide.
According to a statement by the Ghana Education Service (GES), the disbursed amount of GH¢8,989,866 will cover the feeding grants and essential needs of all students in Special Needs Schools across the country.
“The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform the general public, particularly stakeholders in Special Needs Education that the Government of Ghana has released the feeding grant of Special Needs Schools across the country. A total amount of GH¢8,989,866.00 has been paid. This covers the feeding grant of all the learners,” the statement dated Wednesday, June 25, 2025, said.
The statement signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of the Public Relations Unit, underscored the ruling government’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of students nationwide, regardless of their conditions.
The statement also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity within the country’s education system and to also improve its quality.
“This disbursement demonstrates the Government’s continued commitment to inclusive education and the wellbeing of learners with special needs,” it indicated.
“Management of GES acknowledges and appreciates the patience, resilience, and dedication of all heads, staff, and learners of Special Schools. We also commend the Government for prioritising Special Needs Education. GES remains committed to collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure equitable and quality education for every learner, regardless of ability,” the statement added.
