Don’t let technology destroy our children’s future — Bagbin warns parents

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has urged parents and guardians to take a more active role in guiding how children use technology, warning that unchecked exposure could undermine their moral upbringing and future development.

Speaking at Anyirawase in the Ho West District of the Volta Region on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the Speaker stressed that although technology has become an essential educational tool, it also presents serious risks if not properly managed.

Bagbin noted that the increasing use of digital devices and online platforms among students requires closer supervision from parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.

According to him, while technology has the potential to enhance learning and innovation, its misuse can negatively affect children’s discipline, values, and focus on education.

We must not allow technology to destroy the future of our children but assist them to become a better version of themselves,” he emphasized.

He therefore encouraged parents to pay closer attention to the educational needs of their children and provide the necessary guidance as they navigate their formative years in an increasingly digital world.

During the visit, Bagbin also cut the sod for the construction of an eight-unit classroom block for Anyirawase EP Primary School to help improve access to quality education in the community.

He assured residents that the project would be completed by the end of 2026.

The Awudome Traditional Authorities commended the Speaker for his commitment to educational development in the area.

They also appealed for additional support to strengthen traditional leadership structures and promote development within the community.
