In a heartwarming gesture aimed at strengthening local livelihoods, Togbi Loli II, Dutor of Avuto and Hlortator of the Amey Clan of Agave, has extended financial support to more than 60 women in Avuto and neighboring Akutukorfe in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The beneficiaries, made up of petty traders, food vendors, fish mongers, fish fryers and other small-scale entrepreneurs, received non-refundable grants of GH₵500 and GH₵1,000 each. The amounts were distributed based on the nature and scale of their businesses.
The presentation was carried out on behalf of Togbi Loli II by Togbi Dosu Passah I, Dufia of Avuto, and Mama Wotorbe II, Queen of Avuto and the President of the Anlo Queens Council.
Addressing the women during the ceremony held last week, Togbi Dosu Passah I urged the beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely.
“This money is meant to boost your businesses and improve your livelihoods. We encourage you to put it to good use so that it will multiply and benefit your families,” he advised.

Mama Wotorbe II also cautioned the women against misapplying the funds.
“Avoid spending the money on unnecessary items such as clothes, hair and other forms of profligacy. Let it serve the purpose for which it has been given — to strengthen your businesses,” she stressed.

The Development Chairman of the community, Mr. Freedom Abusah Tornyeviadzi, expressed profound appreciation to Togbi Loli II for his continuous support to Avuto and its surrounding communities.
He noted that the chief’s generosity extends beyond the women, emphasizing that Togbi Loli II has consistently demonstrated commitment to the overall development of the area.
Prior to the women’s empowerment initiative, Togbi Loli II supported the men in the community — most of whom are farmers and fishermen — with fishing nets and fertilizers to enhance their productivity. He also sponsored the establishment of an information center and facilitated the provision of street lights to improve communication and security within the community.
Mr. Tornyeviadzi prayed for strength and divine replenishment for Togbi Loli II, describing him as a pillar of development for Avuto.
The beneficiaries, visibly elated, offered prayers for God’s blessings and protection upon the chief. They pledged to utilize the funds responsibly to expand their businesses and improve their living conditions.
The initiative marks yet another milestone in Togbi Loli II’s sustained efforts to promote economic empowerment and community development in Avuto and Akutukorfe.
