Ghana Condemns Israeli Attack on Qatar, Calls for Respect for International Law

The Government of Ghana has voiced strong disapproval over an Israeli airstrike on the State of Qatar, describing the incident as an unprovoked assault and a violation of international law.

In a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the government said the attack resulted in casualties, fatalities, and damage to property, stressing that it constituted an affront to Qatar’s sovereignty.

“The Government of the Republic of Ghana condemns the attack in view of the fact that the airstrikes constitute a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar,” the statement noted.

The government further warned that the strike threatens to undermine ongoing peace efforts between Israel and Palestine, efforts in which Qatar has been playing a central mediating role.

President John Dramani Mahama, on behalf of the people of Ghana, extended solidarity to Qatar in the wake of the incident.

“His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the People of Ghana stand in solidarity with the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the People of Qatar in these difficult times,” the statement added.

The release also commended Qatar for its “tireless and commendable commitment” to facilitating dialogue in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and urged that the attack should not derail diplomatic negotiations.

By reiterating its position, Ghana underscored the need for all parties to adhere to international law and pursue peaceful diplomatic channels in resolving regional tensions.
