CAF Opens Bidding Process for AFCON 2028, 2032 and 2036p

The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has officially invited its 54 Member Associations (MAs) to submit bids to host the CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments in 2028, 2032 and 2036.

The Africa Cup of Nations is the continent’s premier football competition and one of the world’s biggest sporting events. According to CAF, the tournament attracts a global television audience of more than 3.2 billion and generates over 6 billion digital views.

The next edition, the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027, marking the first time the three East African nations will jointly stage the tournament.

CAF noted that it will continue to organise a senior men’s national team competition every year, except during FIFA World Cup years.

To ensure a fair and transparent selection process, CAF has developed the AFCON 2028, 2032 and 2036 Bidding Framework with the support of its independent expert adviser, PwC, alongside technical, financial and external legal advisers.

According to CAF, the framework is designed to establish a transparent, credible and ethical process for evaluating and selecting the host nation or host nations for each AFCON edition, in line with internationally recognised best practices.
