Former NAFCO CEO Arrested at Accra Airport Over Alleged Attempt to Access Frozen Bank Account

Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company Limited (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, has been arrested by law enforcement officers at the Accra International Airport.

Mr. Aludiba, who is currently standing trial alongside his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, on charges of stealing and causing financial loss to the Republic, had earlier been granted permission by the High Court to travel to the United Kingdom for a short visit.

According to a statement posted on Saturday, July 4, 2026, by the Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, the arrest followed an alleged attempt by Mr. Aludiba to use false means to access funds in his frozen Republic Bank account on Thursday.

Dr. Srem-Sai explained that the alleged development prompted law enforcement officers to arrest the former NAFCO CEO at the airport before his departure.

He further disclosed that the Attorney-General is expected to file an application before the High Court on Monday seeking a review of the court’s earlier decision granting Mr. Aludiba permission to travel outside the country.

The case involving Mr. Aludiba and his wife remains before the court as investigations and legal proceedings continue.
