Gabriel Kwamigah Atokple, the Volta Regional representative on the Council of State of Ghana, has announced the successful completion of his PhD in Public Administration and Policy from Cavalla International University, USA.
In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook, HE Atokple expressed profound gratitude to God and reflected on what he described as a “journey truly worth the price.” He joined his graduation ceremony virtually alongside fellow graduates from across the globe two weeks ago.
Balancing academic rigor with his professional and personal commitments, HE Atokple described the process as both “gruelling and fulfilling.” He noted that alongside his studies, he continued to shoulder management duties, fulfill public service responsibilities, and maintain his family life.
His doctoral thesis, titled “Public-Private Partnerships and Regional Infrastructure Development: An Empirical Study of the Volta Region in Ghana,” draws from his experience as a young civil service officer who once served under the guidance of the late P.V. Obeng on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives.
Among the key findings of his research is the underutilization of community involvement in PPP projects, a gap Atokple believes hampers inclusive development. Inspired by this revelation, he reaffirmed his commitment to the VOLTA RISING initiative—a personal project through which he collaborates with international partners to foster community-centered development in the Volta Region.
“I have committed my time and resources to the VOLTA RISING project,” he wrote, “an initiative through which I engage partners around the world in my own small way to help bridge this gap and enhance inclusive development in the region.”
Atokple’s academic achievement adds to his growing contributions to governance and development in Ghana, particularly in advocating for grassroots participation in public policy and infrastructure development.
