Anloga DCE Visits Flood-Affected Communities, Assures Residents of Support

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Anloga District, Hon. Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has visited some flood-affected communities within the Shime area to assess the impact of the recent flooding and engage residents on the challenges they are facing.

The visit formed part of efforts by the Anloga District Assembly to obtain first-hand information on the situation on the ground, understand the extent of damage caused by the floods, and identify possible interventions to support affected residents.

Among the communities visited by the DCE were Bleamezado, Agorbledokui, and Sakome, which have experienced the effects of the floods following the recent rise in water levels in some parts of the district.

During the visit, Hon. Sandra Seyram Kpedor interacted with residents, listened to their concerns, and observed the difficulties brought about by the flooding. The affected community members shared their experiences, including the impact of the floods on their homes, livelihoods, and daily activities.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the District Chief Executive to gather vital information that would guide the Assembly and relevant stakeholders in planning appropriate responses to the situation.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Kpedor expressed concern about the challenges faced by the affected communities and acknowledged the hardship caused by the floods. She assured residents that the District Assembly, in collaboration with the appropriate agencies and partners, would work to provide the necessary support and interventions to ease their difficulties.

She noted that the Assembly would continue to monitor the situation and take steps aimed at reducing the impact of the floods on residents while ensuring that affected persons receive the needed assistance.

“The Assembly is aware of the challenges you are going through as a result of the floods. We will work together with the relevant agencies to see how best we can support you and bring relief to the affected communities,” she assured.

The DCE further encouraged residents to remain calm and continue to cooperate with authorities as measures are taken to address the situation.

Flooding remains a major concern in some communities within the Anloga District, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall, due to factors such as drainage challenges, rising water levels, and the district’s low-lying geographical location.

The visit by the District Chief Executive underscores the Assembly’s commitment to responding swiftly to emergencies and ensuring that the concerns of residents are addressed.

Residents of Bleamezado, Agorbledokui, Sakome, and other affected areas have expressed appreciation for the intervention and the engagement with the District Chief Executive, describing the visit as an important step towards finding lasting solutions to the challenges posed by flooding.

The Anloga District Assembly is expected to continue engagements with relevant agencies and stakeholders to provide relief and explore long-term measures to prevent future occurrences.
