Former Dome-Kwabenya MP Adwoa Safo Injured in Alleged Shooting Incident
Accra, June 21, 2026 – Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is reportedly receiving medical treatment after sustaining injuries during an alleged shooting incident at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, on Sunday.
According to sources familiar with the incident, gunshots were fired at the property amid escalating tensions surrounding the leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of its founder, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
Witnesses claim that armed individuals opened fire during a gathering reportedly held in support of efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the successor to the late founder. Unconfirmed reports suggest that approximately 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged during the incident.

Sources close to the former legislator allege that one of the bullets grazed her near the neck. She was subsequently rushed for medical attention and is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident comes against the backdrop of a growing family and organisational dispute over the succession process within the Kristo Asafo movement. Reports indicate that some family members have challenged attempts to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership of the organisation, resulting in legal disputes.
The Ghana Police Service has yet to issue an official statement on the matter. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting and establish the facts of the incident.
