TOGBI LUGU AWADALI IV
Adutor Concerned Citizens (ACC) has formally petitioned the Agave Traditional Council over what it describes as the purported destoolment of Togbe Lugu Awadali IV, the Dufia of Adutor.
In a petition dated May 11, 2026, and addressed to the Paramount Chief of the Agave Traditional Area, the group expressed concern over recent developments involving Togbe Abordor VIII of Lakpo, which they say threaten the peace, dignity, and unity of the Agave Traditional Area.
According to the petition, Togbe Abordor VIII allegedly organised a gathering in Lakpo during which he purported to destool Togbe Lugu Awadali IV. The petitioners further claimed that artificial intelligence-generated video content was later used to create the impression that the alleged event took place in Adutor.
The citizens described the alleged act as “a grave attack” on the chieftaincy institution of Adutor and the authority of the Agave
The petition outlined several claims, including that no destoolment event was held in Adutor and that Togbe Lugu Awadali IV remains the duly installed and recognised Dufia of the town. The group also argued that Togbe Abordor VIII had no customary, traditional, or legal authority to destool the Adutor chief.
The petitioners further alleged that Togbe Abordor VIII has a history of conduct that has contributed to chieftaincy disputes and instability within the Agave Traditional Area, warning that failure to address the matter could destabilise peace and unity in the area.
As part of their demands, the concerned citizens called on the Agave Traditional Council to convene an emergency meeting to address the issue. They also requested that Togbe Abordor VIII publicly withdraw and recant all statements and actions connected to the alleged destoolment within seven days.
Additionally, the petitioners asked the Traditional Council to formally reaffirm its recognition of Togbe Lugu Awadali IV as the legitimate and duly installed Dufia of Adutor.

The petition was officially received on behalf of the Agave Traditional Council by Mamaga Nyagadze II, who assured the group that the Traditional Council would expeditiously deal with the matter in the interest of peace and stability within the traditional area. A copy of the petition was later presented to Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, the District Chief Executive for South Tongu.
The group cautioned that if decisive action is not taken within the stated period, the chiefs and citizens of Adutor may take unilateral action by marching to Lakpo to demand a retraction of the alleged destoolment claims.
The petition was signed by Athanasius Gbetormenyo on behalf of the citizens of Adutor.
As of the time of filing this report, no official response had been issued by the Agave Traditional Council or Togbe Abordor VIII regarding the allegations contained in the petition.
