The Ghana Education Trust Fund has disassociated itself from a series of fake contract award announcements circulating in its name, warning contractors and suppliers not to fall victim to scammers posing as officials of the Fund.
In a public notice issued on May 14, 2026, GETFund said it had become aware of fraudulent publications and procurement offers being used by some individuals to deceive members of the public and extort money from prospective contractors and bidders.
The Fund clarified that the supposed contract opportunities being circulated are not genuine and were not authorized by GETFund.
It explained that contrary to claims in the fake publications, GETFund does not directly hand out works contracts to contractors.
According to the Fund, projects are assigned through coordinating councils only after parliamentary approval and formal requests are received from stakeholders such as heads of institutions, Members of Parliament, and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.
GETFund further cautioned the public against entering into any financial arrangements or commitments linked to the fraudulent schemes, stressing that it would not be responsible for losses arising from such dealings.
The Fund also disclosed that it is working closely with the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to investigate the matter and identify those behind the alleged scam.
GETFund assured the public of its commitment to transparency and urged contractors, consultants, and suppliers to rely only on official communication channels when seeking information about procurement and project allocations.
