Anlo Afiadenyigba, Volta Region –June 25, 2026
The Culture and Tourism Commission of The Action Room of Anlo Afiadenyigba, in collaboration with the Tourism Society of Ghana, has inaugurated the Tourism Club of Anlo Afiadenyigba Senior High School to promote tourism awareness, cultural heritage, and patriotism among students.
The initiative is also expected to help expose the rich tourism potential of Anlo Afiadenyigba to the rest of Ghana and the international community while encouraging young people to appreciate and promote their cultural heritage.

Mr. Leonard Nyatsoe
In his welcome address, the Headmaster of the school, Mr. Leonard Nyatsoe, expressed delight over the establishment of the Tourism Club, describing it as a significant step towards educating students on the importance of tourism to national development.
He noted that tourism remains one of Ghana’s major sources of revenue and said the club would equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the sector.
Mr. Nyatsoe also outlined a number of challenges facing the school. He disclosed that Anlo Afiadenyigba Senior High School, which is over 30 years old, currently has an enrolment of five hundred and thirty eight students in Forms One and Two, while two hundred and forty form three students were the immediate past students who just completed school. The school has sixty three teaching staff, three Lead Ghana personnel, two National Service personnel, and fourteen non-teaching staff.
According to him, the school’s infrastructure has not undergone any major renovation for decades, forcing management to undertake only minor maintenance works. He added that the school’s electrical system is in a poor state, leaving some parts of the campus without electricity, while the school’s security personnel are not on the Government of Ghana payroll, making it difficult to sustain effective security services.
The Headmaster therefore appealed to the government, old students, corporate organisations, philanthropists and other stakeholders to intervene as a matter of urgency to help address the numerous challenges confronting the school and improve teaching and learning conditions.
Addressing the students, Youth Tourism Ambassador of the Tourism Society of Ghana, Joseph Amartey, highlighted the Society’s four flagship campaigns aimed at promoting domestic tourism and patriotism among young people.
He explained that “See Ghana” encourages young Ghanaians to travel across the country to explore its numerous tourist attractions; “Eat Ghana” promotes the consumption of indigenous Ghanaian dishes; “Wear Ghana” encourages the use of locally made Ghanaian fabrics and fashion; while “Feel Ghana” seeks to inspire patriotism by encouraging citizens to appreciate, preserve and celebrate Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and identity.
Mr. Amartey urged the students to become ambassadors of Ghana’s tourism industry by promoting the unique cultural and tourism attractions within their communities.

The Chairperson for the event, Mama Diawor Zorfuaxanyi II, commended the Culture and Tourism Commission of The Action Room of Anlo Afiadenyigba and the Tourism Society of Ghana for the laudable initiative. She expressed confidence that the establishment of the club would have a positive impact on the students and the community. She further expressed the hope that the necessary resources and logistics would be provided to ensure the effective operation and sustainability of the club.
